I live and work in North Georgia as an artist, educator and gallery director at the foot of the Blue Ridge Mountains, part of the larger Appalachian Mountain Range. My studio practice and work has been shaped by the agrarian landscape of the American South I know and remember as subject, site and material. My new work began with a 5 gallon bucket of dirt taken from 7 acres of land in Pike Road, Alabama. The dirt begat two large paintings, artifacts I carry with me from this place.

“I consider land to be an archive of its own history and am interested in place and our connection to it as human beings. I construct artifacts to document, preserve, and perpetuate human story with the hope that we will ‘remember the future’.
